POST ENTRY - ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Transform ideas into impact

The Innovation Lab is for people who have stabilized after incarceration and are ready to build something. Micro-equity investment, founder mentorship, and shared infrastructure — for returning citizens who want to launch businesses that create opportunity for others.

THE PREMISE

Beyond placement. Toward Ownership

The Innovation Lab is built on one conviction: returning citizens who have survived extraordinary adversity carry capabilities that most entrepreneurs never develop — adaptability under pressure, resource efficiency, deep community knowledge, and a clarity about what actually matters. Those are founder qualities. The Lab exists to give them a structured environment to put those qualities to work.

It is also an entrepreneurship accelerator — designed to produce business owners who create jobs, generate wealth, and eventually become the employers and mentors for people earlier in the lifecycle.

THREE PILLARS OF THE PROGRAM

Everything needed to turn an idea into a business

The Lab provides the three things most aspiring entrepreneurs lack — not talent or determination, but the structured support, the network, and the capital to make a viable idea real.

Mentorship & Strategy

Direct access to experienced founders, NCS ecosystem leaders, and practitioners who have built real organizations. Not generalized business advice — personalized guidance applied to your specific idea, your specific constraints, and your specific market.

  • One-on-one founder mentorship throughout the cohort

  • Strategic planning sessions and business model refinement

  • Proven frameworks adapted to your context and community

🚀

Community & Network

Connection to a cohort of peers who are building alongside you, industry leaders who want to see you succeed, and the broader NCS ecosystem of partners, employers, and institutional allies. The relationships built in the Lab become the foundation for everything that follows.

  • Peer cohort of fellow founders at the same stage

  • Access to the Reentry United partner and employer network

  • Connection to community organizations and institutional allies

🤝

Resources & Funding

Shared workspaces, technology access, essential business tools, and pathways to micro-equity investment for participants who are ready to scale. Capital aligned with mission— not just return — designed to fill the gap between stabilization and the traditional investment market.

  • Shared infrastructure, workstations, and tech access

  • Micro-equity investment opportunities for qualifying participants

  • Strategic partnerships to fuel early business growth
